Stop Uyghur Genocide

The Uyghurs are an Turkic ethnic group located mainly in Xinjiang, China, and considered to be one of China’s 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities.

Most Uyghurs are Muslim. Accused of ongoing human rights violations, China claims it is merely “countering extremism and terrorism and promoting social integration.”

  • Uyghur population in China is approximately 12 million
  • 3 million Uyghurs are being detained and “re-educated” – 400 internment camps
  • Reported abuses include torture, medical neglect in the camps, forced birth control. Uyghurs owning a Qur’an or abstaining from eating pork have been targeted.
